What does the name change mean?
Starting in October, Metro by T-Mobile now gives you two brand new data plans plus more value on existing plans. Our $40 plan has double the high-speed data with 10 gigs. And Metro by T-Mobile launches with new all-unlimited plans, including a tier that features Amazon Prime, making it the only U.S. prepaid wireless brand to include all the shopping and entertainment benefits of Prime. Plus, the first and only wireless brand to include Google One, a subscription with expanded cloud storage and mobile backup.
Is Metro now owned by T-Mobile?
Actually, T-Mobile has been the parent company of Metro since 2013. So, our customers have been enjoying the T-Mobile network since then.
Do customers need to do anything?
Customers have the option of doing nothing and continue to receive the same great service they have enjoyed from Metro. And when the new plans launch in October, customers have the choice to change to the new plans featuring unlimited high-speed data all month long, streaming video, cloud storage and more if they want to.
Can I purchase Metro services from a T-Mobile store?
Unfortunately, no. Only Metro stores (MetroPCS locations) service Metro customers.
So, would I continue to go to MetroPCS stores to get Metro by T-Mobile?
Yes, of course! We are here to help in our 10,000+ locations around the U.S.
If I’m a current customer, do I need to change my phone? My phone will still work, right?
No, customers do not need to change their phones. No need to get a new phone or SIM! And Yes, you and your phone will still enjoy our great network powered by T-Mobile.
Will network coverage be affected?
Not at all! You’ll still get the same great coverage you always have.
