The MetroPCS Visa Prepaid Card is a stored value card that allows a cardholder to load money and make purchases anywhere that Visa debit cards are accepted worldwide. It gives you financial freedom from not having to carry cash, making online purchases, paying your bills online, and much, much more. Since there is no credit check, it is easy to qualify.

Will the MetroPCS Visa Prepaid Card affect my credit scoring (FICO score)?

The card does not currently report to the credit bureaus. Therefore, an individual's credit (FICO) score will not be affected.

Is this a "Secured" card?

No. The MetroPCS Visa Prepaid Card is a stored value card. Whatever amount of money loaded to the card is available to spend. Additionally, no deposit is required to “secure” a line of credit, as no credit line is extended. The MetroPCS Visa Prepaid Card helps control spending while eliminating costly credit card fees and finance charges.

Is this a "Debit" card?

No. Cardholders do not have a personal bank account attached to their card; therefore it is not considered a "debit" card. Plus you don’t have to worry about NSF (non sufficient funds) or over-the-limit fees common with debit and check cards. The "Debit" logo on the card identifies that the card is accepted wherever Visa Debit is accepted.

Is there a POS (Point of Sale) transaction fee?

Unlike many other stored value cards, the MetroPCS Visa Prepaid Card does not charge a transaction fee each time you make a purchase using the cards as a signature-based transactions. Purchases made as PIN-based transactions incur a $0.95 fee.

Is there a monthly fee for the card?

All cardholders will be charged a $4.95 monthly maintenance fee.

Can I use the card to withdraw cash at ATMs?

Absolutely! The MetroPCS Visa Prepaid Card is accepted at all ATMs displaying the Visa brand mark. Cardholders are charged $2.00 per cash withdrawal plus any local ATM fees charged by the owner/operator.

Who can qualify for the MetroPCS Visa Prepaid Card?

To comply with the USA PATRIOT Act, any U.S. resident who is at least 13 years of age with a valid Social Security number and verifiable physical address located within the 50 states can qualify for the card. No credit check, bank account, or employment verification is required. Currently, we do not issue cards to residents of Puerto Rico, Guam, Virgin Islands, American Samoa or other U.S. Territories.

How much does my initial payment need to be?

The initial purchase of the card is $9.95. Before you can use the card, you will need to load money on the card. The initial load to the card is free. The load amount is between $5.00 and $500. Adding money to (or loading) the card at a MetroPCS store after the initial load will cost you $3.00.

Once I have my card, how do I make subsequent money loads to my card account?

The MetroPCS Visa Prepaid Card has several load options to ensure cardholders can add cash quickly and conveniently.

Can I transfer money from my card?

Yes. By using the online share funds feature, cardholders can send funds to any U.S. bank account. You can also transfer money to any other MetroPCS Visa Prepaid Card by logging into our secure web site, www.metropcs.com/visa and clicking on the View your Card Account, dialing #222 from your MetroPCS phone, or calling the 24-hour toll information line at 801-383-1015. A $2.00 service fee will apply.

Can I get a second card?

Yes, you can register for an associate or secondary card at MetroPCS stores and certain MetroPCS authorized dealers. An activation fee of $5.95 and a monthly fee of $1.00 will apply. The primary cardholder can share funds with the secondary card, and these funds can be used for purchases and ATM withdrawals. Note: The associate or secondary card can only be loaded through a direct transfer from the primary card. The card is an excellent way to share funds to loved ones in any country or to pay out allowances to your kids.

How can I access my recent card activity?

Cardholders have a great way to track their purchases. Every time you use your card, you will receive a text alert on your phone. It’s that easy. You also get a daily balance text message. This feature can be turned on or off as often as you want. Cardholders can also view transaction history, available balance, spending summary and manage their card activity by logging into our secure web site, www.metropcs.com/visa and clicking on the View your Card Account. You can also dial #222 from your MetroPCS phone or call the 24-hour toll information line at 801-383-1015 to access the same information.

Do I need to keep a minimum balance on my MetroPCS Visa Prepaid Card?

No, but it is a good idea to keep a small amount of money on your card to cover the $4.95 monthly maintenance fee.

What happens if I return something I purchased with my card for a store refund?

Like any other card, credits and refunds will post to the card within 2-4 business days.

What happens if the card is lost or stolen?

Report the card missing immediately by dialing #222 on your MetroPCS phone or calling the 24-hour toll-free customer service line at 1-801-383-1015. At the cardholder's request a replacement card will be mailed to the address on file and $9.95 replacement card fee will be assessed.

What additional benefits come with my MetroPCS Visa Prepaid Card?

MetroPCS makes it easy for you to manage your money. Simply dial #222 from your MetroPCS phone and you will be able to check your card balance whenever you like! In addition, dialing #222 will allow you to use your card to pay for MetroPCS service or add money to your MetroConnect account! You can also share funds to another card or bank account and pay other bills as well. This function will not work if your MetroPCS service has been suspended or cancelled.

Is my personal information secure?

Absolutely! When you log in to your card account via the web, the site is secured using Secure Socket Layer (SSL) protocol. Information such as Social Security number, address, card account number and balance can only be accessed with the correct username and password.
