MetroPCS Community Scholars Program

The 2007-2008 MetroPCS Community Scholars Program ended November 29, 2007. Finalists were notified by January, 11, 2008. MetroPCS will notify scholarship recipients by Feb. 28, 2008. Thank you for participating in this year's program.
MetroPCS founded the Community Scholars Program to recognize teenagers' community involvement and to encourage their continued dedication to volunteer activities. The program provides college scholarships to high school seniors who value volunteerism, have made a difference in their hometowns and excel academically. Education, volunteerism and community involvement are all part of MetroPCS' corporate foundation.
MetroPCS awards $1,000 scholarships to high school seniors who plan to enroll in a full-time undergraduate course of study at an accredited two- or four-year college or university.
In evaluating applications, MetroPCS' overarching criteria will be to find students who have demonstrated exceptional involvement in volunteerism and community service. The scholarship program is administered by Scholarship America, a national nonprofit educational support organization that seeks to involve the private sector in expanding educational opportunities and encouraging educational achievement. The following will be taken into account when selecting winners:
- Participation in school activities
- Academic record (Applicants must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a standard 4.0 grading scale to be considered.)
- Additional Honors
- Work experience
- Statement of goals and aspirations
- Unusual personal or family circumstances
- An outside appraisal via a letter of recommendation
