What is a Short Code?
A short code is a number that is less than 10-digits to which you can send or receive text messages. Typical uses for short codes include marketing and advertising, promotions, voting and receiving downloadable content. You can text the keyword 'HELP' to the short code to find out more about the business and the program.

What is a keyword?
Keywords are commands used to identify a particular campaign on a given short code. You will text a keyword in the body of the message to a particular short code in order to participate in the campaign. Example: "Text 'NOW' to the short code 12345 to receive daily alerts."

How do short codes work?
Dial a supported short code from your MetroPCS phone, input your key word in the body of the message, and press Send. If your rate plan supports short codes, and the particular short code is supported, then you will receive a text message with the requested information.

Is there a fee for using short codes?
Use of this feature requires a compatible rate plan. There is no transaction or monthly fee for standard rate short codes. However, premium codes are not included in a rate plan and require additional charges to be deducted from customer's MetroConnect account.

If your phone supports SMS (text messaging), then it will work for short codes.

Do all short codes work at MetroPCS?
MetroPCS constantly evaluates short code programs to determine whether to participate, so not all short codes are available. Visit www.metropcs.com/alerts often as we are always adding more short codes.

How can I opt-out from receiving text messages from a particular short code?
Text STOP to the short code or reply STOP to any message received from that short code

If I port my number to another carrier (or to MetroPCS), will I continue to receive short codes?
Customers who port their numbers will need to re-subscribe with their new carrier (Note: Some carriers may support different short codes than the customers' original carrier).

I just paid my bill after my service was interrupted. What happens to my short codes?
Customers whose service is interrupted due to payment will continue to receive short code alerts when their service is restored.

My service with MetroPCS was disconnected. What happens to my short codes?
MetroPCS will unsubscribe all customers who have disconnected their service.
