Downloading Mobile Instant Messaging to your MetroPCS Phone
If the Mobile Instant Messaging icon is not available when you select @metro on your phone, select the MobileShop icon (shopping cart) and download the application. To download the application follow these simple steps:
- From the @metro menu, select MobileShop (the shopping cart icon).
- Select Catalog (Note: Disregard the automated message about your MetroConnect funds. Funds from your MetroConnect account will not be used for Mobile IM because it’s a monthly service).
- Select @messaging folder.
- Next, select the Mobile Instant Messaging option.
- You will receive a message stating that the Application installed successfully. Select “Yes” to run it.
Once the download is complete, you will see the AIM Sign-On page.
First Time Customer Sign On
First time users will be prompted to store password and auto sign-on setting. The Save Password screen will display.
The toggle function allows users to select or deselect the save password and auto sign on preference.
If you elect to save your password and allow auto-sign these settings are stored in the phone.
If auto-sign on is selected, you are automatically logged onto the AIM application when the MobileIM icon is selected.
In order for auto-sign on to occur, you must elect to save password Select OK once the Save Password/Auto-sign on preferences are established.
Screen name and password validations are done by the AIM server. If the screen name and password are found invalid, by the AIM server, you will receive “error-1” shown below.
During the logon validation process, you will see the message “Signing on to AIM”, this authentication process could take several seconds.
User Sign On Options
If you would like to change your Save Password or Auto-sign on settings after your initial log-in, you must access the User Sign On Options while logged-in.
From the phone, the Sign On Options menu is located at the bottom left of the AIM Sign On home page with the menu page icon.
This menu also allows you to exit the application, toggle between screen names, and set preferences.
