MetroPCS Terms of Service – International Roaming


MetroPCS’ International Roaming Service allows you to use your compatible MetroPCS device in selected international countries utilizing the networks of available compatible international roaming networks. MetroPCS does not provide service outside the United States. International Roaming Service is provided by MetroPCS to its subscribers through agreements with third party international carriers. Use of a compatible device is required and not all services, features and content may be available. You are responsible for ensuring that your phone can legally operate outside the United States and your usage will be subject to any terms and conditions, including terms of use, of the international roaming provider. Service provided outside the United States is subject to the laws and regulations of the country where service is provided. MetroPCS International Roaming Service is not available everywhere. MetroPCS International Roaming Service is only available in certain countries, and in certain areas within those countries. You must download the most recent roaming information to your phone by dialing *228 and pressing “send” prior to leaving MetroPCS’ home service area in order to utilize MetroPCS International Roaming Service. Availability, quality of coverage and services while roaming are not guaranteed. Certain calling features (voicemail, caller ID, call waiting, etc.) may not be available in all roaming areas. MetroPCS will not be responsible in the event such international roaming coverage is not available due to circumstances outside of its control. We may, but are not required to, send you usage alerts via text message to inform you of your roaming usage and available remaining balance in your MetroConnect account. These are courtesy alerts and we cannot guarantee that you will receive them or that they are the most recent reflections of your account. The rates, and terms and conditions of international roaming service may differ between international roaming providers, and you are responsible for checking these Terms of Service, and those of the international roaming providers for the most current rates and terms and conditions. Your usage limits may be different for international roaming service.


MetroPCS reserves the right to block or restrict your access to international roaming service without notice if you (1) do not maintain a minimum balance in your MetroConnect account, (2) utilize international roaming service in violation of any laws or regulations, including applicable foreign laws and regulations, (3) utilize international roaming service in a way that harms or damages MetroPCS’ or a third party international carrier’s network(s), (4) utilize international roaming service in a way that inhibits MetroPCS’ or a third party international carrier’s ability to provide service to other customers, (5) utilize international roaming service for non-personal use, including, but not limited to, advertising or other commercial uses, sending of content or use of voice services that violates or is not in accordance with applicable United States and/or foreign law, or (f) your phone is incompatible with, not authorized by or otherwise disallowed by MetroPCS or its international roaming providers or not registered or legal to operate in such country.


By using MetroPCS International Roaming Service, you acknowledge and agree that (1) you have agreed to abide by the MetroPCS Terms and Conditions of Service, including the arbitration provision, (2) MetroPCS does not guarantee service in the international roaming coverage areas, (3) service in the international roaming coverage areas is provided by third parties, and not by MetroPCS, (4) you are solely responsible for your use(s) of MetroPCS international roaming service, and the compliance of those use(s) with foreign law and (5) you are solely responsible for your use(s) of MetroPCS international roaming coverage, and the compliance of those use(s) with foreign regulations, including regulations relating to radio emissions.


In order to utilize MetroPCS international roaming services, you must be a customer in good standing, have activated and paid all service fees for MetroPCS’ service and you must have a minimum balance available in your MetroConnect account. If you do not maintain the required minimum balance in your MetroConnect account, you will not be able to either place or receive calls while roaming in MetroPCS’ international roaming coverage areas. We may block or restrict your ability to place or receive calls if you cease to be an active customer in good standing, fail to pay for your MetroPCS service, or fail to maintain a minimum balance in your MetroConnect account. You will be able to add funds to your MetroConnect account from an area that has available compatible international roaming coverage.


You will be charged on a per minute basis for voice calls using international roaming service. You will be charged on a per minute basis for calls to your voicemail (listening to your voicemail). Per minute charges will be rounded up to the next closest full minute increment. Calls will be billed from the time you press the “send” button until the call terminates or you press the “end” button. We may, but are not required to provide you with a message indicating that your use of the international roaming service will incur charges on a per minute basis. Additionally, we may, but are not required to provide you with a period of time to terminate your call without charge. If you are utilizing a MetroPCS bundled product that provides a certain number of minutes, those bundled minutes will be utilized first, before International roaming calls are charged against your available MetroConnect balance. We may charge international termination fees against your MetroConnect account balance for calls you receive while roaming in international roaming coverage, even if those calls are sent to voicemail, from the time you answer the call until the call is terminated or you press the “end” button, whichever is longer. Text messaging (SMS) is available while you utilize international roaming coverage, but may incur additional charges to be deducted from your MetroConnect account balance.


Data: Data services are currently not available when using MetroPCS International Roaming Service. You will not be able to utilize MetroPCS International Roaming Service to send or receive MMS (picture or video messages), email, data or to access or surf websites. You will be able to utilize any available WiFi services or networks for features and services that utilize data, but those networks may charge you a fee. MetroPCS does not guarantee, nor does MetroPCS provide, international WiFi services.


Available Coverage: See metropcs.com or a MetroPCS store for more information on available compatible international roaming coverage. Usage of services initiated near country borders may be carried by a cell site in a neighboring country, be considered international roaming service and charged against the balance in your MetroConnect account.


Export Restrictions: The United States restricts the export of certain devices and information stored on or accessible using such device. MetroPCS’ content licenses do not allow access to MetroPCS content outside the United States. Your usage of certain applications, features or devices outside the United States may violate third party intellectual property rights and MetroPCS shall not be responsible for such claims. You are solely responsible for complying with United States Export Control laws and regulations and the import laws and regulations of foreign countries when traveling internationally with your device. Failure to comply with such laws and regulations could subject you to both civil and criminal fines, forfeitures and jail time.
