So what is the MetroPCS Community Scholars Program?
The MetroPCS Community Scholars Program, sponsored by Kyocera, awards scholarships to high school seniors who plan to continue education in college or university programs. In addition, MetroPCS and Kyocera award a grand prize scholarship to one lucky finalist. In the past, individual awards of $2,500 have been given and the grand prize scholarship has been $25,000!
The MetroPCS Community Scholars Program was founded by MetroPCS to encourage high school students to become involved in volunteer activities that give back to their community, and to help young people pay for a college education.
MetroPCS calls the program the Community Scholars Program because in addition to helping young people go to college, we also want to motivate students to become involved in their community. In evaluating applications, our overarching criteria are high school seniors who have demonstrated exceptional involvement in volunteerism and community service, in addition to academics and other criteria. Scholarships are offered for full-time study at an accredited two- or four-year institution of the student's choice.
