MetroPCS is proud to participate in the new Wireless AMBER Alerts Initiative, a voluntary partnership between the wireless telecommunications industry (CTIA), local and national law-enforcement agencies, and the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC).

The AMBER Alert System has helped save over 200 missing children nationwide since it began in 1996. Once law enforcement is notified that a child has been abducted (and the abduction meets AMBER Alert criteria), law enforcement issues an AMBER Alert, notifying all broadcasters, state transportation officials and - as of 2006 - wireless carriers.

Wireless Amber Alerts are FREE and offered as a public service to all wireless customers who can receive text messages.
